# Terminology

> Learn about Superthread's core concepts and how they are used in your workspace.

This guide explains Superthread's core concepts and how they are used in your workspace.

## Core concepts

### Workspace

Your organization's main hub in Superthread. All your spaces, boards, and members live here.

### Space

A group within your workspace that contains boards, pages, and team members. Spaces help organize work by team, project, or topic.

### Board

A visual representation of your workflow. Boards contain cards and can be viewed in different layouts (Board, List, Timeline, Calendar).

### Card

The basic unit of work in Superthread. Cards represent tasks, issues, tickets, or any actionable item.

### Page

A collaborative document for documentation, notes, or specs. Pages can include rich text, images, and more. *Pages are sometimes referred to as "docs" or "wikis" in Superthread.*

### Subpage

A page nested under another page, used to organize documentation hierarchically.

### Sprint

A time-boxed period for completing a set of work. Sprints help teams deliver work in consistent cycles.

### Projects

Projects are a special type of card tracked on the dedicated 'Projects board'. They are typically large, well defined, company initiatives or goals. Cards from multiple different boards and spaces can contribute towards a project.

### Saved filters

A saved filter or custom perspective on your cards, boards, or workspace content.

### Comment

A discussion thread on cards or pages, used for collaboration and feedback.

## Additional terms

### Status

The current state of a card (e.g., To Do, In Progress, Done).

### Tag

A label for categorizing cards. Tags help you organize and filter work.

### Child card

A card that's part of a larger card. Used to break down work into smaller pieces.

### Smart link

A dynamic reference between items in Superthread, such as linking a card to a page or another card.

### Note

A transcribed meeting or personal note, often created using Superthread's transcription features.

### Layout

The way cards are visually organized on a board. Superthread supports multiple layouts:

* **Board (Default):** Kanban-style columns for each status.
* **List:** A vertical, spreadsheet-like list of cards.
* **Timeline:** A horizontal timeline showing cards by start and due dates.
* **Calendar (Beta):** A calendar view displaying cards by their dates.

## Common actions

### Mention

Tagging a team member or linking content using @.

### Subscribe

Following updates on an item to receive notifications about changes.

### Archive

Hiding an item from active view while keeping it for future reference.
