How to use comments to collaborate within documents
Page comments let you collaborate directly on content by adding feedback or discussion to specific text, or the overall page. They have all the same capabilities as card comments, with additional features for inline comments.
Select any text on a page and click the comment button to add a comment directly to that text. This will create a yellow highlight on the page to indicate there is an unresolved comment there.
Formatting & slash menu: Use the formatting toolbar or type / for options like bold, italic, lists, code, checklists, blockquotes, callouts, and more.
Attachments: Click the paperclip icon or use the slash menu to attach files. You can also directly paste images and videos inline into your comment.
Emoji reactions: React to comments with emojis, or open the emoji picker to add new reactions.
Reply to a comment: You can reply to a comment with another comment (1 level of nesting).
Resolve a comment thread: Once a comment discussion is finished, you can mark it as ‘Resolved’ which will remove the yellow highlight from the page. A resolved comment will still be visible in the comments sidebar.
You can leave feedback on a page without selecting any text. Just select the comment button above the page title, or click on the comment button in the header of a page.
Click the comment button in the header of a page to open the comments sidebar.
Sidebar view: All comments on a page can be viewed collectively in a sidebar, making it easy to see all feedback and discussions in one place.
Filtering: Filter to show only unresolved comments or all comments.
Resolving: Mark a comment thread as resolved with a tick. Resolved comments are hidden from the default view but can be accessed if needed.
You can also manage any comment using the 3 dot menu on an individual comment:
Edit your comment
Copy link to the comment
Quote and reply to reference a comment in your reply
Delete your comment if needed
