What is a workspace?

We call your main working area within Superthread your ‘Workspace’. The Workspace will typically be for your entire company / organisation. It’s the top level container for all admistration and billing. For example, if you upgrade your Superthread Plan, you will be purchasing a plan based on the number of team members in the workspace.

Create or switch workspaces

You probably created a workspace when you first signed up for a Superthread account. When you create a workspace you become the ‘owner’ of the workspace. The ‘owner’ is a special admin role and there can only be a single ‘owner’ per workspace. If you’ve been invited to join other people’s workspaces, use the Workspace switcher screen to navigate between them. You can also switch between them by clicking on the menu at the top of your sidebar and selecting ‘See all workspaces’.
As of Septemper 2025, each user can only create/own a single workspace. However you can still be be a member of multiple workspaces if you’ve been invited to join them. If you are already a workspace owner and would like to create a new workspace, you will need to first archive your existing workspace and create a new one.

Change the workspace name

The workspace owner or an admin can change the name by going to Settings > Workspace > General. The workspace name is displayed at the top of the sidebar, in menus, and emails. It helps brand and identity the workspace for anybody you inivite to it. Most people set it to the name of their company or organisation.

Change the workspace URL

The workspace owner or an admin can change the URL by going to Settings > Workspace > General. The workspace URL can only consist of lower-case letters, numbers, and hyphens. Changing it will break any existing links that you have shared outside of Superthread, so it’s wise not to do this very often. Make it easier to identify your workspace by branding it with your company logo. You can upload an image from Settings > Workspace > General.

Change the workspace owner

The existing workspace owner can transfer ownership to another member by going to Settings > Workspace > Members. Find the member you would like to be the owner, then click the ‘role’ dropdown and change their role to ‘Owner’.

Archiving a workspace

If you are the workspace owner or an admin of the workspace, you can archive the workspace from Settings > Workspace > General and select the ‘Archive Workspace’ option in the ‘Danger zone’. Archiving a workspace will archive all of the the spaces, boards, cards, and pages in the workspace. All members will lose access to this workspace. If you want to undo archiving a workspace, email [email protected] .
