Projects & roadmap

Roadmap

The Roadmap is a special board you can use to map out your companies priorities. Instead of containing ‘cards’, the Roadmap is designed for large ‘projects’. Every member of your workspace (except guests) can view the Roadmap.

Similar to a regular board, you can customise the Roadmap columns/statuses that projects progress through.

You can also change the layout to a list, or timeline from the ‘Layout’ menu in the header.

Roadmap notifications

You can be notified when a project is added to, or moved into, a specific status/column in the roadmap board. Just click on the 3 dot menu at the top of a status/column and select ‘Subscribe’.

Creating a project

Projects can only be created in the Roadmap board. To create a project, go to the Roadmap board and click ‘Add new project’.

Convert an existing card to a project

You can also convert an existing card into a project using the 3 dot menu on the relevant card. This will move the card to the Roadmap board and add any of it’s child cards to the project.

This is useful if you want to use a separate space to triage projects before committing them to your Roadmap.

Project details

The only required field is the project title, but we recommend also assigning a project owner and updating the project icon for better visibility and organisation.

  • Title – a short simple name for the project.
  • Icon – an easy way to identify the project throughout the app.
  • Owner – the person ultimately responsible for the delivery of the project.
  • Description – a detailed project plan. This can contain inline attachments and links to other Superthread pages.
  • Status – these are the statuses/columns that projects progress through on your roadmap board.
  • Assignees – the team members collaborating together on the project.
  • Start date
  • Due date
  • Tags – only workspace level tags can be added to projects.
  • Related projects – projects can marked as related to, or dependent on, other projects.

Project cards

Cards from any other board in the workspace can contribute towards the progress of a project. This makes projects ideal for tracking cross-team work.

Adding a card to a project

You can add a card to a project using the project field in the sidebar of any card.

A card can only be associated with a single project. When you add a card to a project, all of its child cards will also inherit that same project. This means that child cards cannot be associated with a different project to their parent.

Viewing a project’s cards

When viewing a project, you can see the cards associated with it by clicking on the ‘Cards’ tab in the header of the project.

Here you will see a board containing all of the project’s cards, grouped-by ‘status type’.

Cards cannot be dragged between columns in this view. This is because each column represents many ‘Backlog’, ‘In progress’, or ‘Done’ statuses from all of the spaces/boards contributing to the project.

If you need to move a card, you can open a card and change it’s status, or click the 3 dot menu on it and select ‘Change status’.

Subscribe to a project

Subscribing to a project means you’ll receive notifications about that project. This includes new comments on the project, when the project changes status, or when a project is due soon.

You’re automatically subscribed to any project that you create, are assigned to, comment on, or are mentioned in.

You can manually subscribe to a project by clicking the bell icon in the header of the project.

Favourite a project

Click the star in the header of a project to add it to your favourites.

Deleting a project

You can permanently delete a project from its 3 dot menu. This cannot be undone. Deleting a project will not delete or archive any cards that were contained within the project, it will just remove their relationship.
