Getting Started

Download & Install

Superthread is available as a desktop app for macOS and a mobile app for iOS:

The desktop app provides full access to all features, while the iOS app is specifically designed for note transcription.

Create Your Workspace

When you first sign up, you’ll create a Workspace - typically named after your company or organization. This is where all your work happens.

Invite Your Team

Superthread works best when your entire team is in the same Workspace. Invite people by:

  1. Clicking the ‘Invite’ button at the bottom of the sidebar
  2. Going to Settings > Workspace > Members

Core Concepts

Spaces

Spaces help organize your work into smaller groups. They contain Boards, Pages, and team members. Spaces can be:

  • Open - available for all workspace members to browse and join
  • Private - only accessible to invited members (available on paid plans)

To create a space:

  1. Click the + button next to “Your Spaces” in the sidebar
  2. Enter a name and choose an icon
  3. Add team members (optional)
  4. Choose visibility (open/private)

Boards

Boards visualize your workflow and contain cards. You can:

  • Create boards in any space
  • Choose from four layouts: Board (default), List, Timeline, or Calendar
  • Customize statuses to match your workflow
  • Group and sort cards by various properties
  • Filter cards using the F shortcut
  • Enable email-to-board for creating cards via email

Cards

Cards are your basic units of work (tasks, issues, tickets). You can:

  • Create cards using the C shortcut from anywhere
  • Add properties like assignee, priority, due date, and tags
  • Break down work using parent → child relationships
  • Convert text to cards from pages
  • Create cards via email (when enabled in board settings)
  • Link cards to GitHub pull requests for status automation
  • Use effort estimation (Fibonacci points, T-shirt sizes, etc.)
  • Create relationships between cards (blocking, blocked by, related to)

Sprints

Sprints are time-boxed work periods for teams to complete predefined work. When enabled for a space, you can:

  • Set sprint length (1-8 weeks) and start day
  • Configure cooldown periods between sprints
  • Automatically roll over unfinished cards to the next sprint
  • Link cards to GitHub pull requests for status automation
  • View current, upcoming, and completed sprints
  • Favorite sprints for quick access

Projects

Projects represent large initiatives or epics on your roadmap. You can:

  • Create projects in the Roadmap board
  • Convert existing cards into projects
  • Assign project owners and icons
  • Track project progress through customizable statuses
  • Subscribe to project status changes
  • Link related cards to projects

Pages

Pages are collaborative documents for documentation, specs, and notes. You can:

  • Create pages using the P shortcut
  • Use rich text, images, markdown, and inline comments
  • Organize content with subpages
  • Share pages publicly when needed
  • Convert text to cards directly from pages
  • Use page templates for consistent formatting
  • Add icons and cover images for better visibility
