Spaces help keep your work and teams organized by dividing your Workspace into smaller groups. Spaces contain Boards, Pages, and the team members working on them. They’re typically named after teams, projects, departments, or anything you like.

Your spaces

The spaces you’ve joined (or been added to) are visible in the Your Spaces section of your sidebar. You can also leave a space if you no longer think its relevant to your work.

Creating a space

Everyone (except guest users) can create spaces for their own purposes. You can create a new space by navigating to Spaces in the sidebar (under the Workspace section), then clicking the ‘Create new space’ button. When creating a space yuou’ll need to:
  • Enter a space name and choose an icon.
  • Optionally add a description.
  • Add people to the space (optional; if you invite people not in the workspace, they’ll be added)
  • Choose whether the space is Open (all workspace members can browse/join) or Private (only invited members can see/join).

Open vs. Private spaces

  • Open – any member of the workspace can browse and join an open space.
  • Private – only members added by the space owner can see or access the space. Private spaces are only available on paid plans.
Note: workspace admins that have been added into a private space can also add users into that private space.

Space owner

When you create a new space, you become the owner of that space and can manage its settings. Every space must have an owner, they cannot leave the space, however they can transfer ownership to another member. The space owner has elevated permissions within that space to:
  • Change the visibility of the space from open to private.
  • Add users into a private space.
  • Delete the space (deletes all content and cannot be undone).
  • Turn sprints on/off for the space.
  • Transfer ownership to another member via space settings.

Browse and manage spaces

From the Browse all spaces screen, you can:
  • Search spaces by name or description
  • View each space’s description, contents (number of boards/pages), members, and last updated time
  • Use the actions menu () for each space to:
    • View info
    • Rename
    • Change icon
    • Access space settings
    • Change description
    • Leave the space
    • Delete the space (deletes all content and cannot be undone)
You can also see and manage who has joined each space in the Members column. Click the members to add or remove people.
